If you reside in, recently moved to or are simply just visiting the Youngstown area, we would like to invite you to join us in fellowship and worship. We have worship services on both Sunday morning and Sunday evening, with Bible Study classes for all ages prior to Sunday morning worship as well as Wednesday evening. We feature a cappella music and are non-denominational. We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his Apostles. The Church of Christ is just that. It is not a name but rather a description. We are literally Christ’s church. In Matthew 16:18, Jesus said that He would build His church and we know from God’s inspired Word that Christ only built one Church. The word “church” is a deceiving term. It literally means the “called out” or the “assembly.” Therefore the church is the assembly of Christ. The ones who have entered into the body of Christ are those who make up the Lord’s church. The Church is not a building but the people who make up the assembly. We are a part of the entire body of Christ but each congregation is autonomous and is not governed by anybody but Christ who is the head.
The church that belongs to Christ began on the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2. The Lord’s church was not founded by man or any human creed, but rather by Christ through the preaching of the apostles in Jerusalem, corresponding to Old Testament prophecy (Isa. 2:2-4).
The Bible is our sole authority for everything that we do and say. We speak where the Bible speaks and we are silent where the Bible is silent. In Ephesians 4:11-16, we see the basic plan for the church. As a whole and individually we are to grow into all aspects of Christ; into a mature Christian. We as individuals not only help ourselves but we encourage each other to grow into Christ-likeness so that the body will be built up in love.
Our goal is not just to convert people to Christ and be done, but rather to bring people closer to God by becoming Christ-like. Therefore, this means that the Christian life does not stop at entering into the body at baptism (Acts 2:42; Galatians 3:27; I Peter 3:30-21). Romans 6:3-7, shows us that in baptism we walk a new life so that our body of sin may not be done away with. The body of Christ walks in the light as He is in the light (I John 1:7). The Christian lifestyle brings both hope and security that if one remains faithful until death he/she will receive the crown of righteousness (Hebrews 6:19-20; Revelation 2:20; James 1:12).
To sum it up: We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ (II Timothy 3:16-17). For this purpose also we labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within us. (Colossians 1:28-29)
I Timothy 2:4-5 tells us that God “desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Once we are saved, we know from II Peter 3:9, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promises as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
"The Churches of Christ salute you." Romans 16:16
"For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." 1 Corinthians 3:11
"And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all" Ephesians 1:22-23
"For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come" Hebrews 13:14
